Just a poem that asks the question, what is really fake?
Fake

What is fake?

Is it a man smiling telling his child Santa exists for there own sake?
Or is it a plastic shark swimming in one of the great lakes?

Is it fake when a women walks through the mall with weave in her hair?
Or maybe fake is the sight of an unhappy alcoholic clown smiling in the fair.

Most people would say fake is something that is false and not real.
But what about when Johnny tries to escape by taking all of those pills?

Fake has got to be bad,
Because it makes so many people sad.

Why do people disguise the truth?
Should we really be telling our children the tooth fairy is the one who took their tooth?

Fake seems like an everyday thing.
Like when Hakeem told the girl he felt her pain.

Are people fake to get ahead and gain success?
Or are they really just failing the test?

Is Fakeness just factual?
Or do people think it’s easy and retractable?

If you were great would that make you great?
Or maybe you would be just a cake?

Do you work on fakes?
Are you sure you don’t have any of the traits?

I hope I’m not fake
For my futures sake
