To my anonymous benefactor...THANK-YOU.
I reached out to leave my mark upon the world
Something other than some writings on a stone
For years I spent wondering what could have been
And why seemed to be that I was to die alone

I’ve buried my loves and I’ve buried those who meant most
I spend most of my days talking with their ghosts
I have yet to find a love since I buried the last
And I have spent years struggling with the past

As I wasted away, my only friend was my pain
The only one to visit me time and time again
Then modern medicine, a joke I always taunted
Came to offer back a life I was unsure I wanted

So, I reached out to leave my mark again
To share with the world my hopes, my joys. my pain
Not really thinking that anyone would care
Not really thinking that anyone would dare

I tried to save someone, anyone with the stories of my life
To give them something to relate to in dealing with their strife
Someone was reading, I guess I may have gotten through
They gave me inspiration to keep the fight anew

If in reading these words and the ones that came before
You are now second guessing about closing any doors
Then all the pain I’ve known, hasn’t been for naught
Because all the pain I’ve suffered has brought up to this spot

You need not know me, as you wish to be unknown
But you are the light within the dark that I was looking for
My inspiration is springing forth from the kindness that you gave
I thank you for the inspiration to look for others I can save
