This is what depression does to your mind
Darkness slowly comes around
Again dissolving what I found
The joy of love, the love of grace
But it goes again as I see your face
My mind replays the secrets of the past
And I realize my turn is here at last
To prove myself for all I’ve done
Because as this day ends, another has begun
The silence falls and others appear
I know we’re being judged on tears
So I close my eyes to stop the sting
And in my ears the screams soon ring
Many are rewarded for their strife
While others are robbed of eternal life
I just can’t bear to pass this way
So slowly but surely I begin to pray
Although this thing I have not done before
It keeps me begging more and more
To change all of the things that’s been
And let me a new road begin
But it’s too little and I’m too late
Everything’s written in my fate
I feel myself slipping away
I’ll never see another day…
