After a "near miss" I could only deal with the incident by writing it out.
He went for milk and bread
Riding his bike to the store
He’s coming home quite dead
He’ll be a’riding no more

He knew to look both ways
Mom oft’ repeated the words
She said it every day
He thought caution for the birds

So he wheeled into the road
Without a glance around
She couldn’t stop in time
Her truck just ran him down

The driver stopped to help
But there was nothing to be done
He was gone in just a blink
And she can’t see the sun

Now his Sissy wonders why
Her big brother she can’t find
His parents sit and cry
‘Cause it’s not true
Out of sight - Out of mind
