Another poem of the court called life. This time bout a knight.
They say I'm fair they say I'm just

But I only do what I must.

In the kings name I will fight,

And for all that's good I will do right.

But what's not there, what don't you see?

The man, the real and unholy me.

The outlaw and sinner,

Criminal act committer.

The evil and wrong and hate,

A true and fine reprobate.

And I'm only person, only one man.

And I am always doing the best I can.

To protect those in need,

To fix what's wrong with godly speed.

But it is never enough and never quite right.

I can't win the war, only the fight.

So I battle forward, always moving on,

Always keeping pace, always being strong.

For it is mine to endure, this trudging quest,

And who but a knight can endure it best?

Not the Jester, wisest of fools

Nor the Bishop, most royal of tools.

The king is too mighty,

The peasant too flighty.

The queen is trapped in her tower.

And the Magician has no real power.

The Advisor is dim and has no brain,

And the warriors say there are dragons to be slain.

So I will keep the faith, and fly the flag,

I will run the race and never brag.

For I am a knight, full of valor and stuff.

And even my best is never enough.
