Another royal court poem. This time the mage. A bit sad.
I am the mage in this great court,

I hunt great minds just for sport.

I cast my spells and catch your dreams

Get you entangled in reality's reams.

I give a good act and put on a show,

All of it so you never will know.

That Im a fake, and im all pretense

and Im a fraud who lives in suspense.

Will they find out will I be undone?

What of the few, who see the real one?

Will they betray me and will they tell?

or Will they keep the secret well?

The secret is small but powerfuly so,

And since you seem to already know.

Im not great, not what I claim to be.

Im not all there, im not what you see.

Behind my walls, I am scared and lost

And I keep inside them no matter the cost.

My walls keep me safe, keep me from harm.

If im within them, there is no alarm.

But stepping out means people appear.

People who see, and people who hear.

To trust them is to invite pain.

And I will not be hurt again.

And honesty is another lie,

It makes us bleed, makes us cry.

I refuse to be hurt, refuse to be stung.

Refuse to be broken, refuse to be wrung.

So I cast my spells and do my chants.

I use all sorts of magical rants.

Scared of what tomorrow brings,

Scared of all these human things.
