The heartbreak of losing innocence through rape and the hope of renewal
Child of ebony,
broken girl-
naked daughter
in shame you curl.

Drowning in tears
keeping you warm,
suffocating
taunting fears swarm.

Oh weary one
come fall into me.
I'll wash away your stains
of defeating agony.

I'll put all your pieces
together again;
what happened to you
wasn't your sin.

Rest in my arms.
Let my love break the chains.
Innocence restored
what darkness made wane.

You think no one cares.
You feel alone in the world,
but my passion enfolds you
as dove's wings unfurl.

Don't give up hope.
Let my love envelop you,
as the spirit wakens
healing through and through.

Let down your guard
and take off your mask.
Just be yourself.
That's all that I ask.

You can play and giggle
and jump around,
or cry on my chest
without making a sound.

All I can see
is the beauty God made-
His fingerprints upon you,
so carefully laid.
