story behind a beatles song- one of many I'm working on
There's a man. A man that walks the road of life. For so many he is “Mother Mary". Although he is neither a woman or named Mary, he means the same. In times of darkness he is there. On cold nights he is there.
One boy sits in a dark ally where his family lives. It's a cold damp night; he has nothing but rags on.
“Let it be, child,” a man's voice came from the shadows, “let it be.” The man walked over holding shoeboxes. Exactly five, the number in the boys family. He handed the boy each one of the boxes with loving care. Inside was a pair of shoes and two pairs of socks.
The boy gasped for breath, “Wait, Sir! What should I call you?"
“It wasn't me. It was Mother Mary-"the man whispered as he walked back down the dark ally. Melting in to the shadows as fast as he had first come.
The young child ran to the other end of the ally to show his family their new found gifts. “Mama, Papa! Look a man named Mother Mary gave these to us!" He panted for air as he remembered the man. Then his two sisters ran over picking out the size shoe they were. The youngest girl walked over almost half hidden under the shoeboxes she held.
“Thanks Rebecca,” there papa spoke as he took his from her arms. He opened the box slowly. On top was a letter.
Dear Jacob family,
I hope the shoes keep your feet warm in the cold times ahead.
Your new friend
“This couldn't be. How did he know our name?" mama asked from above her husband’s shoulder. He just shook his head, and pulled out a hundred dollar bill. Hot tears danced a fast path down his face as he looked at his children.
“Bless Mother Mary," came a thankful winded sound from young Rebecca.
Soon “Mother Mary" would be known all over town for his good doings. That very night he helped two more lives.
A young lady, no older then eighteen, knelt beside her cat. He lay beside the road on the sidewalk hardly breathing. That night he had rushed outside the door as she had come home from work. A driver had hit him and keep going as nothing had happened. She had no car, and the next bus wouldn't leave for hours. What could she do?
“You can drive, right?" a tall man reach down and wrapped the cat in a blanket he had been carrying. she stood to look him in the eyes, then slowly nodded.
“Good. These are for you," He handed her his car keys and a map. On the map the animal hospital was clearly marked, “Don’t be angry at the man that hit him Rose. Let it be."
“take your car. I couldn't..." but it was to late the kind man had laid her cat in the front seat, and opened the driver's door for her to get in. He started to walk off.
“Who did this kind deed for my cat and me?” Rose yelled down the street.
The wind carried the answer back as a whisper, “It was Mother Marry”
“It's going to be ok now, Muffin," she stroked the cat's head as she drove off. On the dash board sat six hundred dollars. A short note was taped next to it.
For muffin's operation.
Each time he would do something great Mother Mary’s name would come up, and each time he would remember why he was doing this. How could he have not been there for the person that needed him most? His wife… She was the only one he could ever love. So when he heard they were going to have a baby you could imagine how happy he was. That’s when he was young though. When he worked long hours and could drive an hour to and from work. That’s when he was too young too understand the fact that life was too short and to long at the same time.
