This is a poem I just wrote today. I hope you enjoy!

Rejoice!

The darkness fades as night moves on
And pastels herald the break of dawn.
Chill is driven by each golden ray
And a chorus of birds welcomes the day.

The day continues and shadows lengthen
The clouds converge as breezes strengthen.
A roll of thunder fortells the storm
And crisp, fallen leaves begin to swarm.

Across the sky, lightning carves a path
Willows succumb to the wind's fierce wrath.
The leaves on the trees are beaten and battered;
Petals of flowers are plucked and then scattered.

The wind finally settles, ending its breath,
Lightning moves on, thunder meeting its death.
Under the rainfall the earth was downtrodden
Streams are now filled, the foliage sodden.

The song of birds is once again aired.
Thankful that their forest was spared.
Rabbits frolic in the midst of clover
Everyone's rejoicing; the drought is over.
