First and foremost, I love you Marie, and my three children.
I'm losing it,
I'm breaking down.
I was an insensitive,
Cold-hearted, feelingless,
Shrouded in shadows sentinel.
Blackened by misfortune,
Heart scarred by a knife of mistrust,
Eyes blazing red with pain.
I've lost it all,
It's all been taken away.
I can't laugh as easily at misfortune,
I almost lose it everytime.
They have completely changed me,
They've melted every stone.
The wall that was built around my feelings,
My children...

Any story where kids are involved,
Pulls at the ropes that tug at the barriers.
I know that that wall would crush me,
If those ropes ever broke.
It would let loose a barrage
Of each cold, hard, rough stone,
Each one smashing, crushing, and battering
Every warm, soft, smooth feeling.
Each feeling that was gained...
Each won, each earned...each gifted.
Starting with that first sight,
That first eye opening experience...for us both.
It started a down-hill slide,
A slope toward a life of joy,
A life filled with a new feeling everyday,
With my children...

Thank you Marie.
