Unfinished - rough

light breaks even on rational plane
and under, malady assails on somatic terms
children torn in the dark, so little
sow stars in a quickened pulse

when humor masks evil
and beauty is scorched under blinding canon

our days on loan from purgatory
our nights stolen from yesterday

forget, rewind, try again
washed and warmed pieces of now
beneath the white and perfect sun

the ghosts in the machine stir
and run on back to heaven, hell
to wherever poor memories go

if i loose all
in the blue-grey thick of tomorrow

save me one heartbeat
and a human touch,
the heat of another collapsing soul

our thoughts, our dreams
slide like salmon through water
upstream to another country

that is where we belong
away from the disorder of hell
the lawless jaws of discord

help this child from the dark
for her dreams sow stars
that light the way from perdition

that way lie empyrean
the love of her, of him
halcyon shore, unshaken soul
