Keep Running....
My eyes open.
You are there, at the edge of my bed, beckoning me out the front door.
I rise, and follow you, tiredness trailing in my wake.
You start to run, through the fields of barley, between the rows of corn.
I stumble aimlessly after you, staggering like a fawn.
I’m determined not to give up, not to let you go again,
I make to catch you up, accelerating through the grass, ghosting past the cows.
Your stamina is unbelievable, your pace is out of this world,
I stumble, slip and fall. I wouldn’t have caught you anyway.

I awake, sweating and covered in grass. Next time you won’t be so lucky.
I get on my shorts and trainers, jog out the door, down the street.
Next time I’ll catch you……I promise.
