Artemis is in a difficult position, will she make the right decision? [+18 for language]
- Riiiiight. – she said, on a sarcastic tone. – Of course, and I’m supposed to believe you?
The man rolled his eyes, with an expression of ‘I knew it already’ at his face. That was the third time he was telling her that. In a week. No need to say that he was starting to get lightly pissed off.
- Know what? Believe whatever you want to. – he answered, shrugging and turning around, with the intention to leave the room.
She just watched him with a ‘I don’t f*cking believe it!’ expression at her face. Even so that deep inside she did believe. Which doesn’t mean she was going to admit it, of course. She was so lost in her thoughts, that she just realized he was gone when the door closed. She closed her eyes and cursed herself, took a deep breath and opened the door, running after him. Even though she knew that if he really wanted to leave her alone, she wouldn’t be able to reach him, doesn’t matter how fast she runs. She stopped when her legs started to tremble; she was breathing hard and was kinda tired running. Yet, no sight of him. She closed her eyes and cursed herself again, not for the first time at that night. So she sat on the cold floor, thinking about what he said before. Could that be really true? She had to admit, she has never seen him while the Sun was out, and he has never eaten any food she has offered him. But still, would it be true? Those long and sharp canines she once saw could really be his teeth? His natural teeth? And what about the red cat eyes? She saw them once when she really pissed him off for the first time, yet, he has never done anything to hurt her, he always has been nice and gentle to her, so the question was still there, in her mind ‘would it be true?’. Deep, deep inside she knew that it was true, but her so logical mind just couldn’t accept it, and keep on fighting, leaving her so confused.
- Believe now? – his voice coming from behind her, his footsteps letting her know that he was getting closer, until he sat beside her. – You always had a temper, Artemis, what happened to it now? – he asked, teasing her.
Artemis (cause that was her name) gave him the ‘I          m sooooo gonna kill you’ look, which made he laugh. She shook her head and said:
- Kinda yes. Still, I’m curious.
- About?
- Why? – she looked deep into his eyes, trying to find an answer before he gave it. – Why me? Goddamn, if you really are what you said you are, then why are you here, right now, with me?
He smiled at her question. Of course he knew she would ask him that. And of course he had absolutely no idea of how to answer.
- Cause I want to. – he simply answered.
Artemis arched one of her eyebrows, like, ‘and I’m supposed to believe in that?’. At her look, he sighted and said:
- It’s my wish to be here, right now, with you. And being who I’m, I guess I’ll do whatever I wish, don’t you think?
Artemis thought for one moment and then nodded. After all, he could do whatever he wished to.
He stood up then, motioning for her to stood up too. She did as he motioned and gave him the ‘what now?’ look.
- Well, you can go with me. – he said, holding out his hand for her. – If you wish to, of course.
- What if I go? – she asked, cautiously.
- I don’t know. – he shrugged. – All I can guarantee it’s that you’ll be safe and, maybe, a new home.
Artemis didn’t even think twice. The very moment her hand touched his, she felt kinda sleepy, like everything around her was spinning, in the second after it, she was laying on his arms, sleeping, but alive.
He couldn’t hide his smile to see her there, in his very own arms. ‘Finally things are going to change’ – he thought.
- By the way, my name’s Rakesh. – said the Indian vampire holding sleepy Artemis. – I Guess I haven’t told you before. – he completed, frowning to himself.
He then picked her up and disappeared in the shadows.
