Waiting in the dressing room for my show I came up with this poem.
sitting waiting
blinking no hesitating
dressing room
before the show
sitting sowing
no one knowing
wondering how the night will come
hearing the drums
of the audience entering
waiting for the performance
sitting on the fence
with their opinion for the show
performing for the unknown people
is not the hard part
its the start
must be strong
or you've got it wrong
ten minutes before
your reach for the door
and go to places
lights come up and you
see audience faces
bright cheery
dark dreary
not knowing how they will react
will it be exactly
how you did at the
first reading
shyness receding
as they respond to the first joke
good you think
and without a blink
the show is over

blackout
