The story of Adam Wolff and regular teen who is discovring a dark secret about his life
                        The Hybrid Theory

I sat staring intensely at the night sky when my uncle came in. He looked pissed…as usual, im guessing he wasn’t happy about last night, although I couldn’t remember much of anything from the night ago. But I do remember that my uncle dragged me to my room by my hair and chained me inside. Because my uncle was taller, bigger, and stronger than I was I didn’t stand a fighting chance. It was most likely a quarter past twelve when he came in, and to no surprise he was concealing something.
“Boy, I told you to do what I say and you didn’t!” I stared at my uncle scornfully. “Maybe I didn’t want to.” “Like I didn’t want to come to come to this dump you call a home! I was perfectly fine until you walked into my like and I’ll be just as happy when you walk out of it!”
“Adam, damn it, you live with me now! You don’t have much of a choice!”
Our eyes connected only for a moment, he tore his gaze away from me as he advanced towards me with danger in his eyes. I backed up against my head board not finding any protection. My uncle grabbed my ankle and dragged me down and off the bed with a loud crash.
The next thing I saw after I struggled to turn on my side was a long needle with a whole lot of something in it. My uncle and I wrestled for a moment but….of course, he over powered me in an instant. Throwing my head into the wall I cried out in pain and slid down half conscious.
But before I could even think to get up my uncle was on top of me covering my mouth to muffle my yells of protest. We did have many neighbors…actually we didn’t have any at all. But with the ten men in my house im surprised people in the suburbs didn’t hear them bickering and yelling among themselves like they do every night. My uncle kept us in a secluded area I didn’t know my way around the area…let alone my own house, which I must admit is more than a little pathetic. Im a wiz at math and science and I came up with the quick observation that the needle was about 6 inches long and as full as it could possibly be.
The needle came closer and closer to my skin ( I don’t do to well with needles) As the needle drew closer to me I began kicking my uncle endlessly, I can tell he got aggravated quickly because when I made my way to punch him he wrenched my hand behind my back. Had having enough nonsense he managed to stab me with the needle in my arm. The sight in my eyes became blurry but I wasn’t to out of it to see that my uncle had emptied the entire silver fluid. All I could do was imagine the silver liquid swimming inside of my blood stream. Within minutes I drifted slowly into an uncomfortable, painful sleep.

The sun crept through the whole in the wall; I’d been sleeping in a very uncomfortable position all night. I woke up chained to my bed, sick. Fighting the urge to throw up I rolled over and off the bed. Telling by the quietness of the house I assumed that my uncle was out, somewhere. I had enough of this, getting beat every night, and drugged every night by my uncle was not in my particular interest. I found it impossible to go and wonder the house due to my handcuffs keeping my locked in my beautiful solitary confinement! By now I was depressed and yet shocked because usually my uncle would be in here drugging me and dragging me down the steps by my hair.  Something was going on today…something was different, what was so different ironically was that my crazed uncle wasn’t in my room, he wasn’t cursing or yelling. The only thing that wasn’t unusual about this morning was the fact that hadn’t been fed. But im use to it, for some reason though im still lean in shaped and actually looked like something more than skin and bones. Maybe my uncle was drugging me with steroids, anything was a possibility.

It was so damn hot! After minutes of struggling with my shirt I managed to strip my socks shirts and pants. The only thing keeping my body covered was my black and blue boxers. Sweat dripped down my face, it was impossible to wipe it away.

Winter was my favorite season, it was really cold out and I didn’t have to worry about suffocating. When the weather was right in winter I only had mild asthma attacks or none at all.
I have asthma, a sleeping disorder, heart transplant and if anything else I couldn’t remember. My uncle hadn’t given me my pills for sometime now…I couldn’t recall how far back he stopped giving them to me…but I know that recently I have been very weak and not able to fend for myself. I do know, however, that my uncle if hiding something, something that could mean life and death for both of us.

I heard the rattle of keys in the lock to my room, and when my uncle came in he had hell in his eyes! I mean it was in the middle of the morning and he had never barged in like this. Never! I began backing up against the head board again. This time I’d admit it, usually people are too caught up on dignity and pride to let go, but I was afraid of my uncle. Fuck pride…my uncle would kill me if he couldn’t had controlled his anger.
I yelled cursing at my uncle. “What the hell are you doing?” “What the hell are you doing?” I said shaking. My uncle ignored me or must not have heard me; he grabbed a hand full of my black hair and slammed my face into the head board. I felt blood trickle down my face. I panicked…screaming and cursing. I couldn’t fight back this time, even if I wanted to; I was still chained to the bed. I counted about ten times my uncle had violently slammed my head into the wall, and I was powerless so I had to endure the pain. Was he trying to knock my unconscious?
My uncle released my hair and I fell away into the corner of the bed. My breathing was short and rugged. I heard my heart beat in my ears as I shook violently in the fetal position. There was a pool of blood accumulating around me as it soaked my face and my mattress. I was about to throw up. I hadn’t noticed that my uncle had left and now returned. And to no surprise a needle with some kind of clear liquid. My uncle advanced towards me again, only this time I kicked him, kicked him where it hurt, Red keys fell from my uncles chubby dirty fingers. I didn’t need an invitation to jump down get them and claim my freedom. Scared and nervous I picked up the keys and began working on the handcuffs. My uncle groaned as he began to stand and I kicked him again, in his stomach, face, groin, and neck. He fell back to the floor with a thud as I immediately regained my focus. Then as I got my handcuff loose I had a brilliant Idea that would buy me sometime. I chained my uncle up the bed, swooped up the syringe and broke it into pieces. I took his shirt to dry up the ominous liquid.  After that I ran out of my room. I honestly did know what was wrong with my uncle…but today, seeing the way the fury burned in his eyes, I seriously feared for my life more than I ever had. I didn’t notice I was half naked until I was more than halfway down the steps. But I was fed up with this life, naked or not, I was leaving today. The steps were old, wooden, cheap, and shook a lot. Because they shook a lot they often made a lot of noise that you couldn’t just disregard. The men that hung around with my uncle were all drunks. They didn’t pay attention to a damn thing. I guessed it was from all of the toxic chemicals clouding their mind, but as I came to see they did hear the creaking of the steps. They figured it was either my uncle coming down from my room or if they were smart they would have figured it was me. And to my unfortunate dismay someone stood at the bottom of the steps staring at me intensely. I froze dead in my tracks cursing inside my head. The man began come up the steps.
“What are you doing out of you room?” I looked around moment but quickly made eye contact.
“Uncle let me out to go to the restroom.” He raised and eye brow in suspicion. “Did he?” “He did”, I said nodding. “So if you don’t mind me you’re kind of blocking my way, you wouldn’t want me to have an accident on the steps would you?” “Wait a minute kido.” “Damn you half to be kidding me can you please move?” I wasn’t really asking I was telling him…but I guess he didn’t get the hint. “So…why aren’t you using the restroom upstairs?” Oh shit I hadn’t thought ahead this far. I just thought he would go on about his business…but I guess not. “Where is your uncle Adam?” I winced as he said my name. “The bathroom…uhh…upstairs is flooded and…he-he’s trying to fix the leak.” “Where’s the leak son?” “Son…?” I shrugged “The sink.” “Where in the sink…?” I sighed boringly. “Look I’d love to play 21 questions with you but if you don’t mind I-. He cut me off rudely. “Where in the sink Adam…?” “The pipes…okay?” He stared at me a moment before speaking again. “Go…on hurry up.” I released a slow breath and jumped down the rest of the steps. Then I heard him going up the steps calling out my uncle’s name. I cursed and ran through the house looking for the front door. Now it’s a damn shame when you can’t find the door to your house immediately. But I had inspiration, get out, or get hurt…bad. When I came down the steps I ended up in the kitchen. All of the men were sitting together drinking and smoking of course. I doubt if they even took notice of me…which I kinda figured as a good thing. The smoke almost made me pass out…I quickly became dizzy but gained back my focus. It didn’t take long before I heard cursing and yelling. I stood frozen in my spot listening. It was pretty dumb of me because afterwards I heard fumbling footsteps. The door was a few feet ahead and ahead of my freedom. I hesitated no more.
What rung the alarm again was when my uncle bellowed my name. I took off and busted through the door getting smacked in the face with fresh air. I wanted to stop and enjoy it but I had to keep going. I only had one thing on my mind, Run, run, run, and run some more. About ten feet behind me I heard my uncle crank up his car. I dared to look back…and I did. My uncle’s truck jerked back and forth as smoke filled air while, from what I saw, 10 blurs jumped into the car along with him. But I didn’t stop running. Now that I had escaped if my uncle back I’d probably live the rest of my life traumatized in a coma. I haven’t been outside of my house much so I didn’t really know my way around, and where I lived was quiet withdrawn far back from any civilization. The road stretched on and my lungs couldn’t take the abuse. It was so hot but as I ran I saw smoke coming from my mouth. I don’t exactly see how that was possible but it was happening. I was still only covered by my boxers but it felt good either more.
From basic instincts or from what I could tell I was getting nowhere and fast, I think I had been running on an open road straight ahead for atleast 6 minutes. The black fucked up truck my uncle was driving blared behind me. I yelled out and ran faster. From my awesome perphial vision I saw a man hanging out of the window with a rope tied like a lasso. For a minute I was shocked…but that was something my uncle would do.
I just hope he didn’t think he was going to round me up like I was some fucking kind of cattle. It had been about 9 minutes now since I began running and it became increasingly hard for me to breathe. But im head strong I know that…so I kept running.
My hope began to fade. I needed a car to come and save me. If the people didn’t find a boy in his boxers running with men hanging out of the window with guns and ropes strange then the people of this town were as dumb as I thought.
It was about 95 degrees outside and I was hot, tired, and drenched in sweat. I would be surprised if I slipped and fell from my own perspiration.
My skin was turning red and my feet began to burn from running on the hot pavement. I swear to god as soon as I saw some trees I was going to climb. For a slight minute I thought that I was crazy, did I just hear a gunshot? Then to my unfortunate dismay I came to the realization that my uncle would be dumb enough to fire a damn bullet at me on an open road.
From far behind me I heard another gunshot. When you think about it on logical terms the fact was that if a bullet was fired into the air the bullet would half to come back down, it could or couldn’t it hit me, but anything was possible
For a moment I wondered how I managed to out run a truck for this long, my uncle had to be up to something, he just had to!
Another bullet was fired and then another, I could hear the way the bullets ripped apart the air leaving a loud crack to rest strangely among my head. What I failed to realized as I lingered with the bullet was that there was a third gunshot.
I spun around yelling but not stopping, the third gunshot echoed loudly over my head it was frightening. I thought I was dead but I saw the bullet fly right across my face, my eyes went inwards as if I were cross eyed, I watched the silver deadly bullet slide two inches away from my face. I held my breath so long, and the whole im thinking, “Oh my god this is some matrix shit!” I think that a part of my body went numb but I couldn’t tell. I didn’t want to wait for anymore bullets to fly I took off and sped back down the road.
I had to pee like a race horse and I was sweating out all of my existing water in my body.

I slipped! I wasn’t paying any attention to my two feet but somehow I managed to slip, on my sweat perhaps…or from my own stupidity. I suddenly found myself rolling down hills…lots and lots of hills…long non stop hills, with glass, bark, dead twigs, and every other thing cutting my skin as I rolled insecurely down the hill.
Had I stopped?  I thought I would be smart and lift my head out of the dirt but I just lay there panting, mostly in shock, so shocked that I was hyperventilating. I could hear my heartbeat in my mouth, thumping loudly and vigorously I slowly began to panic. I have asthma so that would explain my drastic energy loss. I can run very far without my inhaler but seeing as my ass was on the line I ran until I was safe. Was I safe?

I knew there was something else wrong with me…it wasn’t until I tipped over throwing up blood that I tried to catch myself and fell face first to the floor. I lay there for a moment wondering…I couldn’t feel my right arm anymore. I had been shot!!!

I heard this annoying squeaking as I lay in the dirt with blood running down my face.
I only noticed it was me screaming out in pain as I rolled over in exhaustion. I just wanted to kick myself for just laying here, my uncle could be coming after me any second now…and it would be like hell for me to think about what he would do to me if he got me back. Screw the no meals for a week crap…id probably live the rest of my life in a coma. Cleary I now rested in the confinement of the woods…what I was waiting for. But there were just a few problems that I reminded myself of constantly.  How the hell did I get her? Last I checked I was running on a clear road. How the hell do I get out? And how the hell did I get shot? I mean I know how I got shot…but how? My lungs began to tighten every time I made my effort to take in a breath. I guess the struggle I had put on my lungs was too much. Every now and then I felt my heart just stop completely and beat back before any real damaged was caused. This has got to the worst I felt in………..? I couldn’t remember anything, nothing, not a thing! It came to me as a total shock that I couldn’t remember anything up to this point, not even what I ate for dinner last night! All I know is that I felt crummy. If I wasn’t strong willed enough I’d loose and arm and pass out. The bullet had hit me right above my shoulder somewhere around the tissues, which means that I could hardly move my right arm all I could manage to do was twitch my fingers. I kinda figured that my uncle didn’t mean to shoot me intentionally. He was most likely just trying to scare me. And hell, he did a pretty damn good job, the first bullet I heard fired I nearly pissed in my boxers! But whoever was firing had some dang bad aim. I cursed myself, my uncle, and his posse. I couldn’t use my right hand, if any hand you will shoot, be smart, shoot the left one. For a minute I stood up and tried thinking of what just happened, it came back to me in small blurs, the pain reminded me quickly. Something bizarre was going on.

The woods stretched on and on. The tall trees blocked out any possible passage of light. It was like walking blind. But my biggest fear right now wasn’t my uncle; it was blood thirsty beast (wolves). In this current condition I couldn’t do much damage to one wolf, I could just imagine a whole pack of them! I started to regret me ever running away but who knows what position I would be in if I were still back at the house. Anything had to be better than this, I mean in my freaking boxers for crying out loud!
By now I had totally lost myself, I was spazing out and crying. I really don’t know how I got into this position. While sulking to myself I heard movement from behind. I was scared sure, so scared i think i would have my pants...if i had any on
