Poem abut war from a different perspective
Dust Yellow Sky
made by earth blown
into the air
along with shrill screams
Comfortless Cries
Scared Shouts
Buildings
that have stood the test of time
failed the test of man
He gazed upon all of this
His heart breaking
He gave them so much
He looked down on them
Like a father
Feeling everyone’s pain
tearing at his heart
Like a father he wanted to
swoop down
and fix it
But like a father he has to learn
to let go
They made this mess
They made this chaos
This pain
Now they have to make everything
okay
He knows that everything will
never be okay
Dust may settle
Buildings may advance
The façade of normality may
come again
But the children
will not be fooled
they will remember
and carry the hurt
with them
to the next generation
Each great tragedy
Brings another
Like the Devil’s Dominoes
One fall after another
