A different kind of drinking and driving accident

Please wheel me out to the sea
Where I can sit and think of us three
Even though now there are only two
No Lori, just me and you

Because I had to drink and drive
Now there are only two of us alive
My punishment is to live in this chair
And sit at the water's edge and stare

It's not fair that you have to suffer too
And yet you stayed with me after all you've been through
I can't understand how you can forgive me
When I can't forgive myself for my stupidity

Now I have to live with my sin
You see, it wasn't a car accident that we were in
It was a boat that I drove when I drank
And crashed hard into the bank

So every day I sit staring out at the sea and ask myself why?
How come it couldn't be me instead of Lori that had to die?
Now you know why I sit and stare at the water
It's so I'll never forget what I did to her and my daughter
