A fairwell to a special lady who raised my sisters and me.
Last night you left us, so I decided to write.
I’m sorry I miss saying good-bye.
There no excuses for my reason why.
I was on my way still, couldn’t save the day.
Now I’m writing and crying, I knew you were dying.
I didn’t want it to happen now.
Who am I to say, when one must meet their maker.
I know we all must go in time.
You live to the age of ninety-two.
I’m so proud ,I got to know and love you.
You raised my four sisters and me.
You wanted to keep our family together, you did.
We thank you for all that you done.
What we learned from you as we grew up.
We now face the world with a better insight.
To go out there trying ,with all our might.
You left me with our family tree,
I have names written down, the way you told me.
It a treasure I’ll put into writing one day.
Hoping ,our future family will pass on, and on.
I know now you are in a better place.
Looking down on us ,with a smile on your face.
Saying good-bye is so hard.
I think I rather say ,I’ll hope to see you later.
As all those gone before you, welcome you home.
They’ll tell you a job well done.
You’re in a better place now, may I borrow your smile.
