Small poem, finally described something I've tried to get at for years
Kentucky, July

Leaves tattoo this sky--
Child of a family of sapphires,
Except for that one grandmother that they tell was a pearl.

Female or male,
It pulls up lace tatters
And rolls hot on top of us,
Defying the fingers and
The needles of our eyes.
