A poem about blatant hypocrisy in our lives.

HYPOCRISY

In a world full of lies.
It doesn’t even matter who survives.
Exploiting peoples’ gullibility,
they make beautiful promises,
and treat them as worthless novices.

Do they even realize
that as they laugh on somebody’s adversity,
up in the skies, God laughs at their naivety?
For their time is to come soon
and in this world or the other
they shall pay for their insensitivity.

Bigotry, nepotism, corruption is what prevails,
it’s sad that you don’t even feel ashamed.
We know you have all the power
but remember; you’re still not God.
Your actions make me wonder
Do you sleep comfortably at night?
Is it really possible to rest in peace
amidst all those unheard cries of anguish?

Millions of people to rule over
as they look up to you for answers.
Does that not make you weak in the knees
when it is only yourself that you please?
Remarkable power of speech you possess
as without stammering you say you care
while sitting in the latest Mercedes Benz!

Does it not embarrass your conscience
when people die under your orders?
Gloat in your success all you want to
because all those people,
you call your closest allies,
are going to abandon you
as soon as they see you going down!

So keep acting all nice and angelic
but you know as much as we do
that under the façade lies
the ultimate hypocrite.
