What the world is not allowed to see.
MASK

A mask to cover sorrow
A mask to cover pain
A mask to cover sadness
It holds you like a chain

A mask to cover years of suffering
Years that cannot be called back
A mask to cover nights of crying
Without it you would surely crack

A mask to look happy
A mask to make you smile
A mask to make you look joyful
Though it’s just for a little while

A mask to show you can handle it
A mask to show you have grown
A mask for someone else’s sake
But never for your own

A mask to cover feelings
When all your friends are gone
A mask to cover, if nothing else,
The fact that you are alone

A mask for public places
A mask to wear during the day
A mask to take to your grave
If not there’d be nothing to decay
