A poem about an old homeless lady. It's one of my favorites.
Old brown hands, weary eyes
Faded cotton dress
Battered shoes, tangled hair
Luggage in a mess

Tired trolley, hidden treasure
Sighing wheels to drag
Dirty blanket, biscuit tin
Bottle in a bag

Overcoat, thin and worn
Picture in a locket
Dreams on paper, broken words
Inside a broken pocket

Sandwich in a paper bag
A bench for an address
Silent screams, forgotten dreams
Lay broken, in a mess

All is lost, All is gone
Bluebird never sings
Yesterday has flown away
On tired broken wings
