One for the kids
“No.  No.  No!”  Daniel shook his head.

He didn’t want to wear the green one, or the one with blue and white stripes, or the red one with the collar that itched.

“Magic shirt!” Daniel said, pointing at the v-necked shirt with orange and purple splotches.

“Magic shirt?”  Daniel’s mother sighed as she helped Daniel pull his arms through the sleeves.

All that day, Daniel chased the Yellow Booga-Wu that slid between the rocks in his backyard and squirted black ooze from its nostrils.  Poor magic shirt, now it had orange, purple and black splotches!

Daniel’s mother helped him undress for his bath and put his shirt in a brown basket by the bathtub.

Ta Da!  There it was waiting for him on his bed the next morning, without any black splotches.

“Magic shirt!” Daniel squealed, hugging it tightly.

All day long, Daniel scared away the Juggly-Jee that threw out pink berries while hiding under the bushes.  Daniel’s mother helped him undress for his bath.  Poor magic shirt, now it had orange and purple and pink splotches!

“Ewww,” said Daniel’s mom.

That night, Daniel peeked through the doorway of the bathroom.  A Scootchie-Wah, with a gray fuzzy robe and wild tangled mane, grabbed the brown basket and shuffled with it down the hallway.  Daniel tiptoed behind.

He saw a great silver monster swallow his magic shirt and squish it around its mouth with big slurping noises.  Then the Scootchi-Wah wrestled the shirt away from the monster and tossed it to another.

Whirr!  Whirr!  Daniel’s shirt tumbled and rumbled inside the monster’s belly.

“Woogooahhh,” yawned the Scootchie-Wah.

“Ooohhahhh,” Daniel yawned too.  He crept back to his room and snuggled under the covers.

The next morning, Daniel’s magic shirt waited for him on his bed without any pink splotches.

“Magic shirt!” Daniel squealed, snatching his shirt off the bed.

“Magic shirt,” sighed Daniel’s mother, helping him slip it over his head.
