A poem I wrote, after going through a divorce and meeting the love of my life again
One Way

For it is the beginning of any journey, the first
small step
Hesitant, or knowing, moving forth without fear
Moving forward through the impending days, with
direction and without
That step has known battle, pain, destinations wrought
with anguish
The same step has known glory, laughter, places filled
with love
Carrying with it, the weight of a lifetimes worth of
memories
Pressing on, never sure, but never turning back,
leaving the past behind
Forward only, marching straight ahead to an unforeseen
destiny
Remembering only history, believing only in fate and
future
The weakness disguised as courage, only forward, never
back
Only one direction, gives few options, limited
paths
Battles that were never waged, averted,
too hard too fight
Seem insurmountable, but may not even exist at all
The one direction has traveled too far, too far to see

Battles or joy, the distance has caused further fear
Never mindful of what may have been overlooked
For it is the beginning of any journey, the first
small step
Revisiting the past, going back towards what was
Direction overridden by instinct, fear over come by
remembrance
There are no battles that rage, ended by the moment
Treasures unexplored abound, paths that were never
taken erupt
Coming around again, finding new glory, forgotten
dreams reaquainted
Moving in small circles the directions are confused,
steps scattered and random
The soul dancing lively, vibrant, with it’s choice
The chance to go back, and bring only what is
cherished forward
