The begining of the novel Legend.
Trinity, that is the name of the world I live in. The land that has been divided for centuries into three countries. In the north is Juano, the peaceful woods that I live in. The mountains are filled with orgres and animals willing to lure the simplist of mind to the dangerous parts of the forests. The people are ruled by a queen who denies ever being with a man even though she has a daughter. The princesses's name is Abigail and she is fifteen like me. The queen ignores any suggestion of a possible war even though we have know it for years that it was coming. The enemy, I believe, resides in the south.

Aerogean, a deadly country where no one of the right mind would enter, touches the southern border of Juano. The land is rocky and filled with fire. I've heard that the land has been bled over so much that it looks as if the blood never leaves. The land is blood soaked or so I have been told. The only animals that live there are Melfollows, the bones of creatures who dare travel in the country of death. The bones walk around as if being held together by invisible skin. Some have been believed to fly even though the animal it use to be never could. The only thing close to people I know of are the Shadows. Those are the souls of the sinful, the ones that don't make it into living for eternity with the Divine Beings. They are darkness, my guardian told me. They steal the happiness, the good, the very purity of your soul, anything to feed off of the remaining sadness in you. They never bothered people much, I had been told, until now. The Shadows kill now, ever since their king has become a Shadow as well. Now the souls of any human turns into a Shadow, not just the sinful anymore. No one knows why, but its the reason war is about to start.

The last country, Torin, is a solitude place. Their cities are built above and below the roaring Oceans of Xavion. The main rulers are elves and some mermaids for the deeper cities. They remain unaware of any war. They refuse to help the Shadows or Juano. The creatures there are fish that are said to contain magical powers. The water so filled with them that it too contains a special gift. The dead have said to be brought to life if taken to the right piece of the water. Only the mermaids and elves who are in hiding actually know where. They do not fear a war because they have something to prevent death. They have also said to contain a powerful gift from the heavens that could take the holder back in time.

The war is starting soon because the Shadows and their army keep getting stronger. There is said to be a prince, one the world has never seen, that is preparing to take his father's throne when the time has come. The armies in Juano are preparing as well but I have never heard of the death of a Shadow. My guardian, Mirabel, says that there are mages and others with powerful Gifts that could stop them. However, there are three, she says, that could actually stop the war.

The three she speak of are said to gain the powers of the three most powerful beings in the Divine World. One would have the Gift of Earth from the goddess, Emerald. Her powers would allow her to control the earth and plants. The second would have the Gift of Water like the God Agate. He would control and form the water at will. The last, the most powerful of the three, is said to have the Gift of Fire from the creator of Trinity, Goddess Sapphire. This one is said to have the ability to form fire out of nothing but, the power is so strong that it may be impossible for her to master. Together their powers could destroy the king of Shadows and gain control of his army. It is then that the believers of the story hoped the three would send the Shadows to another dimension. From there the three would have immortal lives on Trinity and rule the three kingdoms. Prosperity would forever fall over the land.

This is the story of how it all happens...
