Lost love and life moves forward with longing for what might have once been possible
I look back not to forget today
but to find that part of me,
left there suspended in time
waiting for one to set it free.

It was lost and left behind,
life moving forward still.
Farther away the journey now
until just a memory to fill.

Many years of distance past,
life lived and wonders brought.
What might have been if once,
I'd share my feeling, my thought?

Too late to alter what's become.
Knowing now that I wait alone.
Standing here for that part of me
to find it's lonesome way home.

So, come now my heart to me.
I must leave, it's time to go on.
Life has journeyed on ahead
I must catch it before it's gone.

I'll look back from time to time
hoping one day I will see,
the one I waited for so long
hurrying to catch up with me.
