Darkest hours
In the darkness of the night we hear the crying of lost souls
Wandering in search of the life they lost many years ago
Some of them were infants and some of them were old
Now they are out there perishing in the cold.

Once they had a place on earth, as do you and I
And we'll be called to join them too as the years go by
Many left their loved ones who dearly miss them so
Many of them left us though didn't want to go.

They left behind their teachings of love and of care
And hope that we remember them, until we meet them there
Souls who suffered here on earth, who died in anguish and pain
Who left behind their mortal forms to be reborn again.

Some at the hands of madmen, whose death would be release
Some in the line of duty, trying to bring about world peace
The tiny infant too weak to refuse the mighty hand of fate
Who saddly found the struggle for life, was too great.

Some because of selfish men, were refused the right to live
The crying souls are waiting and maybe trying to give
A message that may come so clear
To the ones who loved them oh so dear

Should you listen long enough I'm sure that you will hear
The pitiful cry for forgiveness for the guilt, remorse and fear
So when you hear the howling winds, don't cover up your ears
It maybe all the long lost souls crying for yesteryears.
