Australian English. When death comes many questions are asked.

Did you leave because you wanted to
Or did you need to go?
Did you feel me hold you tightly?
If you did it didn’t show
Did you hear me speak lovingly
In a voice so sweet and low?
Did you leave because you wanted to
Or did you need to go?

Was the end so very peaceful
And what you thought it’d be?
Was there any conscious thought?
If there was, was it of me?
Was there any pain or anguish
Or were you just set free?
Was there a lasting vision
From Earth that you did see?

Were there arms out there to greet you
To welcome you above?
Were there friends and family
To shower you with love?
Were peace and truth around you
To engulf you like a glove?
Were our prayers taken to you
On the wings of that white dove?

Did you leave because you wanted to
Or did you need to go?
Did you take my love with you?
For you it still does flow.
Did you find yourself a star?
So for me you’ll always glow
Did you leave because you wanted to
Or did you need to go?
