This poem actually started out as a writing exercise and turned into my favorite piece.
Throw off my equilibrium
Take away my balance
I feel sensory deprived
Alive
So drive
Switch the gears of my existence
Fire up my pistons
FREAK out my senses
Incoherence
Steer the wheel over that bridge
that water would swallow
if it drank
JUST THINK
And take
the wheel for me
Top down
no sound
My face meets the sky
SO HIGH
The stars are from the lake
For my sake
MAKE me touch them all
FALL
into the heat
EAT
The wild mold from the earth
the BIRTH
of all that’s real
Let go of the wheel
FEEL
Us drive off to the right
Out of sight
don’t fight
the flight
We fall into the dampen mouth
deeper south
than the devils dwelling
COMPELLING
us to be together
forever.
