A little drabble from the perspective of a new vampire.
Look at me
Your nightmare's end.
Look at me
Your living sin.
Look at me
Like you've never done before
For I'm still here even after the pulse is gone.

Crimson deceit
Such a fragile sweet,
Stolen innocence that makes your dead heart beat.
Like the ancient ways
You hunt night and day
For who really thinks
Such a tale could break at the dawn of a new day?
But times have changed,
New players show their face,
I among them
Your growing numbers to this date.

I'll add something new,
You'll take something away
And we'll laugh together at the Vatican's whispered Saints.

We'll split and we'll roam
As far as we dare to go,
Hunters of the life-liquid,
Turned Hunted by conniving flurried pain
Of those that escaped mortality that one day.
Can either remember?
Do we dare recall that time?
When we turned sorrow into rage
Into thirst for our sullied corpse?

Do they dare say
We're
Monsters?
Beasts?
Heathens?
Demons?
Hell-spawn destined to return to the flame?
I say "nay nay"
I say "to Hell with you"
My time ain't up
It was my choice to choose.
Relinquished Reality
Mortality
Naivety
For Life.
For Existence.
For emotions and explanations that would be wasted on their breath.

I have chosen
This 'petty' existence of mine.
Of Mine.
To choose.
To discard.
To live.
To fight.

It was my choice
To become another laughing shadow in the endless night.
