A story about a Raven, a family, and spirituality.
Namaste Raven
This is a story from the Northwest region describing the actions of “Raven” who lives in the land of the spirits. One day there was a family who loved each other very much. Auntie was the motivator, Mom was sick with cancer, Dad was ill with pain from a motor vehicle crash, Son was a Marine in Iraq, and Daughter was a Nursing school student. Mom and Dad decided to sell their house to help pay for bills and simplify their lives. Miraculously they found a 5th wheel trailer that had three slide outs, a king bed, and a washer and dryer. It was more like an apartment on wheels. The next step was to have an Estate Sale.
Signs were placed all over the area. Mom, Dad and Auntie got together for the sale at seven o’clock in the morning. Mom folded her hands across her heart and asked God for a prosperous Estate Sale. Just then the Raven flew above the house and hovered. It was as if he was the only thing in the sky. As he graciously waved his wings, a flowing, tumbling river of energy left his body and came to earth where Mom was standing. The river was a bit blurry from its gentle tumbling current in contrast to the clear outline of the clouds and roofline behind it. It was about three feet wide and two feet deep. It cascaded in a straight path right to Mom’s heart. Suddenly Mom felt stronger and felt tears of thanksgiving in her eyes. She admired the beauty of the Raven and its long sharp beak that curved over at the top. The Raven also had a fringe of coarse feathers, or goiter, decorating its throat. Mom was very thankful for the Raven and the blessings bestowed upon her. She felt refreshed and knew the Lord was mindful of her and her family.
Soon she returned back to the Estate Sale and it was wonderful. Mom was able to sell almost everything and she was able to make plans to see her friends again after she moved away. She also made new friends who wanted to teach her how to weave and sew with Llama wool. Many people wondered how so many things were sold in just two days. Mom and Raven knew.
At the end of the sale, Mom returned to prayer in thanksgiving for all the blessings during the past few days. Just as Mom looked up to the sky, Raven was there again soaring just above the house roof top with his black flat wings and wedge shaped tail. He stayed close above the house and seemed to recognize the light in Mom, Namaste. She recognized the light in him, Namaste. As his long pointed, deep glossy wings helped him to keep afloat; he accepted her prayer of thanksgiving. The river of energy flowed once again from Raven to her heart. Mom felt comfort and knew things were going to work out. She was not alone and wondered if there was someone she could help too. Soon, Raven flew off and was gone.
