A horse that I watched being taken to be put down because he wasn't useful anymore.
I never got the chance to know you.
You never had the chance to make me smile.
I wish now, I could’ve touched you,
But you vanished like a dream upon awakening.
So I don’t know how your bronzed coat
Would’ve felt beneath my hands.
Just one glance and you stole my heart,
Maybe I stole yours too.
But I’ll never know
Because I never got the chance to know you.
Its just not fair that the choice was not your own.
If it were mine the ending would be different.
And those with the power to change it, couldn’t care.
In their blind eyes you were broken.
No hope. No second chances.
There we were, a helpless pair.
I can’t forget the trust in your calm eyes
Nor the pleading of my heart, drowning in tears.
The thought never passing your mind that you were being betrayed.
Led away from me forever.
We were still strangers,
Yet I was the only mourner for your death.
I will never forget you,
The one I could’ve saved
but didn’t.
Although your presence in this world was just a breathless moment
And your eyes cannot look upon these lands anymore.
Your image, small warrior, is in my soul.
You are mine
And together we ride.
Spirits intertwined.
So even though I never got the chance to know you
And no one ever saw your true form,
We will see each other again
Small warrior.
I am waiting...
