A poem I wrote while I was contemplating an emotional seperation.
The deafening shrill of silence, ripped through my head.
Sirens reserved for five alarm fires screamed and screamed,
entering through one ear and exiting out the other.
Through it all, I thought I heard a small voice say,
"It's just another false alarm."

I feel nothing as I think about the fresh burns,
They will be the reminders that will mark my flesh forever.
With intense concentration, I play a sadistic game.
I recall his eyes, his smell, his taste and his touch.

When the pain becomes overbearing, I allow myself reprieve.
I close my eyes and recall the warm, enveloping emotion,
that he quenched me with in small sips.
I long to be in that place, and I almost smile.

Warmth rises to a sweltering heat, scalding my very core.
With the precision of a seasoned knife thrower,
a cold, razor sharp blade pierced my heart
Penetrating deep and quick.
I only carry it for self defense.
