1st poem published and still my favorite
Darkness lays upon my heart
like shadows on the moon.
The streets are noisy but silence surrounds
me as I sit alone in my room.

The lights are on but I can't
feel the comfort they should bring.
Daylight holds no meaning now,
it's the nighttime songs I sing.

Sunlight cannot touch me now,
it's brightness holds no hope.
The night is in my mind and
I can only try to cope.

Despair within my soul deepens,
and to the world it calls
"Help me please, release me now, before
my sanity into a void falls."

Darkness lays upon my heart
like shadows on the moon.
And like the moon my heart cries
out here in my lonely room.
