Have a friend you love, but can't stand sometimes? If you know how to deal, lemme know.
Why don't you open your eyes
and pay attention for a bit
so you will notice
the look
on my face that says,
"Your talk is cheap."
Can't you see I'm hurting?
And I may be the ignorant one
missing out on your
misinterpreted glances,
But my thoughts are merciless
and today they're against you.
I'm sorry I'm forced to tell you this
But I can't take it much longer
It's like a parasite, gnawing away in secret
Where I can't see
And you can't see
So it's invisible
And the words, they fly
Like artillary in the heart of battle,
but my eyes are shut
and the problem
ignored,
so it's invisible.
It hurts me to hurt you,
And I may be selfish, not wanting to hurt myself.
But someday the pain will catch up
So I'm slowing down
Hoping it will be soon.
That confrontation,
that will bring us back to square one.
You'll yell
And I'll beckon you to follow me, come listen to
my uncensored words,
the raw feelings.
Maybe
you'll stay
and I'll give up on you.
"Grow up,"
I'll murmur quietly
Wishing there was something easier
Why is this so hard for me to say?

Ideals are nothing more than dreams
And dreams nothing more than wants
Sometimes we want what we can't have
Like an ice cream cone
or world peace
So why do we cling to ideals?
Why do we keep on dreaming?
So the day will come
When we all understand
I don't know what that day will bring
When the invisible will be seen
("What cannot be seen is eternal")
And the truth will be brought to the light
And I'll say to you,
"You can close your eyes now,"
Because by then everything will be
Alright.
