....leaves
I heard a gust of wind come up behind me and turned to watch the leaves scurry to the ground...as if they had heard the much anticipated bell for recess. All taken up in a race that seemed to have no finish line established...or at the very least, discussed in some vague manner beforehand. Twisting and turning at the will of the breeze...crashing into one another without so much as a "pardon me" or polite tip of the hat.

It occurred to me that they would perhaps benefit from some type of organization...a leaf union if you will...something that would focus their diverted attentions toward a single goal, something that would bring them together against the bullying wind and get them on more of a direct route to that place they are seemingly in such a hurry to get to.

I doubt very much that they would listen though...I doubt they would care...their hearts just wouldn't be in it...for it just looks like too much fun from here...to be free of burden or directive...

...to run...as fast as the wind.
