This is for anyone that has lost someone due to the war
The single mom of five,
she is walking down the street,
as her children leave her behind.
She is taking them to the park,
the talk of such place always creates a spark.

You see her walk by,
you give her that un-approving eye.
To you she looks like a lady that is loose,
or someone that just does not know how to choose.

You think of her as trash,
and someone that is very "fast"
You condemn her when you see her,
thinking her sins are very deep,
you hope your children and hers never meet.

Holding yourself up on a higher plane,
why?, you don't even know her name.
You have not even taken the time,
to justify any of your feelings,
just allowed terrible thoughts to fill your mind.

If you would have taken the time to talk,
or even just listened during a short walk,
you would have learned that she is nice,
you could have done anything to break the ice.

She would have told you that she is sad and alone,
she has no husband through no fault of her own.
Her husband was a military man,
he went to Iraq defending our land.

The war took his life,
and took him away from his kids and wife.
She is not loose, or a huge sinner,
she is just a victim of the war against terror,
that has not made Bush, the world or her a winner.

So maybe the next time you see her on the streets,
you could invite her for coffee or to go out to eat.
She is missing her husband and all his ways,
but he left her 5 wonderful reasons to smile each and everyday.
