A short descriptive story about how we make conscious or unconscious decisions.
The bell’s echoed throughout the busy streets, calling me to them. At first I tried to ignore them as one would a mosquito. Buzzing around its prey trying to decide where it would land and test the pure red blood, rippling through the veins giving life and colour. I glanced around trying to catch a glimpse of the building, where the loud angelic sounds were coming from. I crossed the busy main streets, a step closer to my unintended destination.

Before I knew it I was standing in front of a very tall, dirty and dingy stone like structure. It was unrecognisable and stood out like a sore thumb amongst all the other buildings. I was curious as to what the inner workings were, but I had no time in my busy schedule to investigate. It was almost noon, nearing the end of my half hour lunch break. My office with all the incomplete reports and piles of paper were beckoning me to return. Turning my back against the building I attempted to turn and walk away. A powerful source unknown to myself rotated my lean figure back into reverse. Heading towards the front of the church, I found myself slowly walking up the marble steps. With odd bits of colour shown throughout the once white, now grey. My legs seemed to have a mind of their own as they dragged me up the last few steep steps.

Reaching the top I took a moment to examine the large wooden carved door. It had two giant angels on either side of the entrance. Both had a certain likeness to the other, yet they were different. One was strikingly attractive with extensive curls that twisted and turned done her harm, leading me to her hand. Which was open and welcoming. For one reason or another I was drawn to her sister, who was just as stunning and perhaps even more. She was less inviting somehow, with her small fragile and slender hands clenched tightly around the door handle. It was as if she was trying to stop me from entering this holy place. Her eyes teased me and lead me towards her instead of the other.

After a long glance I saw the deceiving and mischievous looks that her eyes reflected. Thinking better of it. I mentally debated with myself between the two. In few moments I came to my decision, although I preferred to go with the curious and tempting glowing vixen. I choose the one that would not send me to the depths of misery. Taking the innocents hand in mine. I opened the door slightly and sidestepped into the new and unknown universe.
