Poetry, a cool-blue word-picture of a very chill, very characteristic alley cat!
Cool Cat beast pawin’ down my floor

A sire; one smooth alley Cat.

Cool Blue out my window.

Frillin’ fur of Cat beast.

Chillin’ tail of Cat feast.

That kitten ain't no mouser

Tabby tomcat, or pet.

Pettin’ him ain't set.

Don't pet my Cool Blue yet.

Sire strikes

Sharp, slit, slash!

Ain't right to pet, not yet

Till he goes pawin’ down my floor

Screamin’ "Skee de wop! Ska-hop! Drop!"

Then Cool Blue brings down my nerves

With a "Sinny-sip, sue-lip, purr."

And then it’s right to pet Cool Blue

And in the jazz of the full moon

Cool Cat and I

Sleep fine...
