When she was young, her heart was heavy laden with all the hurt and the loneliness she felt. She so much just wanted to feel like someone was there, someone to truly care about how she felt and what she believed. She saw in her other friends, if you could call them friends really, more like just people she knew, that their mom and their dad cared about them and treasured the times they spent together. She often sat and wondered why she couldn’t have that with her mom and dad. Instead of “I love you” or being held, she usually heard “just knock it off” or was pushed away. Would anybody ever be there to just hold her??? To let her cry when she was sad, or to laugh with her when she was happy??

When she got older, and was finally out on her own, she started learning more about this man she heard about as a child. This God, who she could call Daddy and not have to be afraid of the hits, or the words said in anger. This Daddy would love her no matter what. He would hold her when she was scared; comfort her when she was sad; and truly relish in the good times with her when she was happy. She wanted so much to believe that kind of love was possible, but her head kept telling her, there’s no way. If your own father couldn’t or wouldn’t love you…why would this God you have heard about??

Finally, though, she reached the point where she knew she had to do something. Living her life her own way sure wasn’t working, so she decided to get past the fear, and take a chance. She asked Jesus to come into her heart and to literally save her life. When she did, almost immediately she felt a change. She KNEW she was loved; she KNEW she was accepted; and most importantly, she KNEW she had a Daddy that she mattered to. The flame within her was finally lit, and she wanted to make sure it never went out. In time that fire will grow, and continue to spark things in her she never dreamt she could do. Was the journey always easy since she decided to trust that she was worth loving?? Not by a long shot. But she knew now, that the fire within her could sustain her through any of the trials and the storms she had to endure.

Do you have that personal relationship with that Daddy who will never leave you or reject you?? If you don’t, and you know the way you’ve been doing things on your own isn’t working….take that chance and invite Him in. That fire you will almost instantly feel with you will be your shelter and your covering, through any of the storms and the trials life may try to send your way.
