Chemical reaction love? Obsessions perhaps. Anything but pure transcendence, surely?

What a feeling it must be,
To be completely consumed by love.
To be so completely in love
That nothing holds meaning without it.

An ontological revolution.
I have never felt it.
Perhaps I don’t believe I ever shall.
Too much acid, too many memories

That sting as nostalgia.
Missed opportunities, unrequited loves etc. etc.
Filed according to name and number.
Paper cut, blood’s thin. Lucky. I guess.

I could have a sweet little life.
With a certain sweet someone.
But misery infests, like a damp.
Like the dark, impressionable.

Unassailable, emotions. Infatuation rather,
Like my mother used to say
And magic is snuffed out.
Twinkling tower of love,

Once,
          Twice,
                    Never there.
