Poem about an old man remembering a lost love.
The crazy old man walks along,
Muttering to himself,
"Remember that old raincoat,
The one you said you hated so much?
It's still there.
Hanging in my closet.
I don't know why I keep it around.
I suppose because it's one of the last links
I have to you.
Just a gentle reminder
of the days when life was a little sweeter,
and I was a free man,
Now I feel so many strings on me,
I don't think I'll ever hear anyone say again,
"Hey Freedom."

Just a crazy old man
walking alone,
along a beach,
wearing a battered old raincoat,
smiling to himself,
because he's
in the arms of ecstasy.
Ecstasy in a raincoat.
