not a summer love
There is I think
in every man's life,
a woman who makes him feel
like the stars are within his reach
That's how I feel when I'm with her
Just knowing
that she's in the same town
as I am,
makes the stars
seem so much close.

I think I know
how a moth must feel
as it is drawn
inexplicably
to the flame of the candle
As the moth is drawn
to the beauty of the flame,
knowing full well
the fate that awaits it,
it goes
Nearer and nearer
the beauty of the flame,
until it is no more
As the moth is drawn
to the flame,
so am I drawn to you
Unlike the moth,
I who have a choice
would have it no other way,
For to be alive,
is to want to be with you
You who it seems
I have known throughout the ages.
You who I have loved,
since only God know when,
Since one day in the darkness of the yesterdays.
You who I must wait a hundred tomorrows
to see again, to hold again.
For truly,
love is the only thing
that binds our souls together.

May this time, in this life,
ours not be a summer love,
May it last through the winter,
to find new life and strength,
in the springtime.
