This is my very first attempt at poetry so please any feedback be easy on me!!!
                    A Sonnet

The fireworks made a colourful displays in the dark new years eve sky,
Laughter and joy filled the air,
She was full of life and fun,
No-one was to know the hurt that was in her,
She joked and danced and smiled,
She made us feel happy,
We were young and no-one had a care,
The memory of that night will haunt me forever.

The clock bells chimed 12 and the new year was upon us,
The night was coming to an end,
We hugged in a warm embrace,
One I will always remember,
If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have let her go,
She left me that night to dance with the angels.
