a person is betrayed by a loved one and tries to cope
Ashen Sorrow

Just standing here again,
Drowning in my pain
I’m so lost, trapped, alone, and confused,
With nothing to gain.

The scars in my heart are exposed for all to see,
I’ve pricked my finger on the thorn of sorrow,
And it continues to bleed,
My heart will soon be hollow,
In my pain, my ashen sorrow.

I hear what people say
To my deaf ears
They can’t look in my eyes, turned gray from pain,
No one will stay near.
I’m fine with it that way, really,
That way, no one else can hurt me.

The scars in my heart exposed for all to see,
I’ve pricked my finger on the thorn of sorrow
And it continues to bleed
My heart will soon be hollow,
In my pain, my ashen sorrow.

In my pain
My ashen sorrow.
