Its about the horrors of war. In this case, the defence of Stalingrad.
I shiver, I cry, I hurt, I writhe, in the inpenetrable cage of war
I rattle its titanic bars, my brothers ram its repulsive walls
Until our hands are cremated, until our skulls are ruptured and split
And the fire of our spirits are extinguished by the pool of our own blood
When will the abomination end? Before, or after my life?

I'm heading for death, on the boat sailing to Stalingrad
Staring up at the sky, filled with fumes blacker than my fate
I see an endless rain of bullets, coming to claim our empty lives
My brothers scream, they jump into the horrid river of the deceased
Our commander shoots the traitors, traitors because they wish to live

We hit the shore and dismount the small prison to enter but a larger one
Running for cover, we push, storm, we hammer, only to lie our forlorn destinies
The screeching noises slash at my sanity, the jagged claws tearning my mind apart
Exploding shells, insane soldiers shrieking, mad sergeants bellowing:
The one with the rifle shoots, the one without follows! When the one with the rifle dies, the one following picks it up and shoots!

We charge like bulls into combat, through the hailstorm of bullets
We fall like pins, blood gushing out of our wounds, geysers of pain
I drop into the vile mud which will swallow me for eternity
Chaining me here in hell, restraining me from my home, my friends, my family, my life
But those were not my last thoughts as I lay sufficating and tormented
For nothing is louder or more obscene than the screams of war
