My first try at a Childrens Story (finally completed)
Joey's Tall Tale

pg1. Joey is a little boy that just loves to go fishing. One day he decides to go to his favorite fishing hole.

pg2. As he walked on his way, Joey's friend Alex saw him passing her house. Alex yelled to him "Joey where ya going". Joey replied "To my favorite fishing hole". Alex then said "Hey don't you have to do your chores before you get to go"?

pg3. "Yea, but I'm gonna do them after, and I'll still have time to do them before my mom gets home" screamed Joey. Joey walks on till he gets to the pond and starts throwing his line in the water.

pg4. As time goes by Alex shows up at the pond and surprises Joey. "Hey" Alex says. Joey looks up and says "What are you doing here"? Alex replies "Well, I'm finished with my chores and my homework, so I thought I'd come see if you were getting any bites".

pg5. Joey mumbles "Suit yourself". Alex then smiles and says "Joey, you do realize that you have been here for some time and it will be dark very soon". Joey seems to have had a light bulb go off above his head and thinks quickly that its way past time to go and his mom will be home soon.

pg6. He reels in his pole and grabs his bucket of fish, looks up at Alex and says "Gotta GO"! Alex giggles as she watches Joey running home as fast as he can repeating "Gotta GO, Gotta GO"!

pg7. Joey finally gets to his house and hides his fishing gear in the wood box on the front porch. Joey screams "Rake the yard"!

pg8. He then runs to the back of the house and grabs the rake and franticly starts raking the yard. Right near the end Joey was in such a hurry that he knocks over the bird bath in the corner of the front yard.

pg9. He finishes with the rake and thinks to himself what next? "Oh" Joey says "Take out the trash" he screamed. Joey runs into the house grabs the garbage, runs out of the kitchen and starts to hurry out the back door.

pg10. Not knowing that he did not have a good grip on the bag and because he was moving so fast, trash spills out all along the way to the big garbage can outside. Joey drops the bag in the big can and says "Gotta sweep, Gotta sweep"!

pg11. He runs back into the kitchen, kicking at the trash he had spilled along the way. He gets inside the kitchen and grabs the broom inside the closet and beins to sweep as fast as his little arms would let him.

pg12. Now Joey is singing "This is my last chore and I will have no more". BLAM! As he was singing Joey bumps into the table knocking over a vase and breaking it.

pg13. Just as Joey starts to put the broom back in the closet so he can do something with the vase, he hears his mom coming up the front porch.

pg14. He runs to meet her at the front door. Right away his mom says "What is going on around here"?

pg15. Joey quickly decides to tell a tall tale since he figured that she must have seen the bird bath knocked over in the front yard. So he begins, "A crazy bird started chasing me in the front yard and ran me into the bird bath" quivered Joey.

pg16. As he was telling his mother about the crazy bird, she had begun to walk into the kitchen. "What in the world went on in here" Joey's mother asked?

pg17. Joey looked over at the vase and said "A big spider came down from the light and I tried to hit it with the broom and I hit the vase". While he was finishing the story of the big spider, his mom walked to the back door and looked out on the back lawn and saw the trash that he had dropped going to the big garbage can.

pg18. Joey's mom belts out "And what about this"! Joey takes a deep breath and says "Ya see, as I was taking out the trash a huge bee came after me and I tripped and put a hole in the bag and trash started coming out, so I quickly put it in the big can and ran back into the house".

pg19. Finally as Joey was putting the final touches on his last story, his mother had walked her way back to the front porch. With a crooked smile on his mothers face, she pulled the fishing pole and bucket of fish out of the wood box and says "A fisherman that tells a tall tale not only hasn't caught a big fish, but also hasn't finished his chores before he goes fishing".

pg20. So, from that day on, Joey always did his chores first before going to his favorite fishing hole. Because he only wanted to be known for telling a tale about the big one that got away.
