a story... the story of an undying yet veiled friendship...
LOST WAYS

They walked a lane,
they endured pain;
They spoke it all,
'till tears did fall.

The flow of a stream,
blew like a dream;
They remember those days,
some unforgettable ways.

They shared a space,
ran the same race;
Sometimes opponents,
yet each others exponents.

They lived up a spirit,
even bothered by merit;
Sometimes one was ahead,
or the other stole the featherbed.

Friends they were close,
to opportunities they rose;
Their bond was envied,
treated like sore mead.

Everyone had a swing,
a warning did ring;
They still lived on,
with every new dawn.

But, the envy worked,
the comments, they had shirked;
The bond believed to be strong,
was snapped by the throng.

A day did come,
to the glee of some;
They parted routes,
like two, single tree, fruits.

(But strangely and truly they still do care for each other, the way they always did.)
