This turned to out to be more whimsical then I would have liked, but oh well.
The strangest feeling clouds my mind
Whenever I go to the beach
It’s like I know that I will find
Adventure waiting
Tempting, calling
Always just beyond my reach

That funny stone could really be
A kelpie’s egg washed up on shore
And buried just beneath my feet
A magic charm?
Or pirate gold?
Who knows what this place has in store?

A mermaid sheds a salty tear
A hobbit ducks behind a tree
It’s like I’m missing something here
But what? But why?
I have no clue
I look back just too late to see.

Is that the Kraken’s lonely song?
Or just the sea’s unceasing moan?
I wonder as I walk along
But never see what
Could be, might be
Lurking just beneath the foam

The Unexpected calls; can no one
Else here comprehend its plea?
They lay there tanning in the sun
But can’t they hear it?
Smell it? Feel it?
Is something wrong with them, or me?
