Elegy/Prayer assignment about my Nana.

Sometimes I think of your life and I
Want to cry for your lack of good luck.
I mourn for your early passing, yet
I know a human can only take so much…

Losing your fiancée in Korea
         The day before discharge
Losing your husband in your drive way
The week before a daughter born

Floors to scrub
Kids to feed
Bills to pay
On just two feet

Declining in health (slowly, but surely),
Choosing between your insulin or utilities

You were a professional climber of life’s mountains.

And I don’t know if there is an afterlife,
But I entertain the thought that now
you’ve found your four leaf clover.
